SEVERAL YEARS AGO EIN (ELVIS INFORMATION NETWORK) A LONG STANDING AND WELL KNOWN WEB SITE, RAN AN INTERVIEW WITH PAUL MONROE. WITHIN THAT INTERVIEW MONROE MADE UNTRUE, SLANDEROUS AND DEFAMING STATEMENTS ABOUT ME.
OVER THE YEARS SINCE THIS INTERVIEW RAN, I HAVE (A NUMBER OF TIMES) WRITTEN TO NIGEL PATTERSON ASKING THAT HE PLEASE REMOVE THE LIES ABOUT ME FROM HIS WEB SITE. UP UNTIL THIS SPRING WHEN I CONSTRUCTED MY OWN WEB SITE (IN ORDER THAT MY OWN SITE WOULD APPEAR IN SEARCHES DONE ON MY NAME) EIN'S NASTY COMMENTS ABOUT ME WAS THE ONLY SITE ON WHICH MY NAME CAME UP IN SEARCH RESULTS. NIGEL HAS EITHER IGNORED MY REQUESTS OR CAME BACK AT ME IN A DISRESPECTFUL MANNER. ONCE ASKING ME "HOW WERE YOU DEFAMED?" INDICATING THAT HE ACTUALLY BELIEVED MONROE'S HURTFUL LIES...WHILE RUNNING THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT OF SLANDER AND DEFAMATION ABOUT ME:
Paul Monroe's words:
"Linda Hood Sigmon/Shuman: Shes a hoot.. She was the one who conned Dr Hinton out of 63,000 Hydrocodone under the guise of Jesse and she is a former Gatheringite who was banished from the group to start her Blue Light Group." (EIN Note: Official documents indicate the number was 34,000) "
Here are the true facts about the above....every single thing mentioned in the original quote was an out and out lie. Certainly the 63,000 which Nigel finally corrected in the footnote.
#1. I did not "con" Dr. Hinton out of anything. Those who have read Jesse's book written with Dr. Hinton will know and understand that Dr. Hinton and I were loyal, devoted, and true friends to Elvis.
#2. Yes, I was a supporter of Gail Brewer-Giorgio back during her book and newsletter publishing days. I contributed to Gail's books and newsletter and enjoyed being friends and sharing my knowledge with her. Below is a letter (and postmarked envelope) written to me by Gail in June, 1993 proving that she and I were still friends for a number of years after she stopped publishing her own newsletter and also proving that we were still friends several years after I discontinued publishing my own newsletter. I WAS NOT bannished from anyone's group.
#3. My newsletter, which I published from July, 1990 through March, 1991 was published with Gail's blessings and good wishes. She also contributed items to my newsletter and kept me updated on many news articles.
The title of my newsletter was "NOTES FOR THE RECORD". Below you will see the first page of my first edition.
I NEVER even subscribed to anything named "Blue Light...." much less published such.
In closing this article, I wish to state that this is my public notice to one and all...especially to Nigel,,, that the above constitutes proof that the statement he published is absolutely false, slanderous and defaming.
By displaying documentation that every word spoken about me in the above shown statement is false, I give notice that I can show in a court of law that I have been slandered and defamed by EIN and Paul Monroe.
I have consulted with an attorney and have been advised that the person who publishes that which is defaming is held legally accountable as is the person who actually spoke the words.
Nigel, I ask you one more time...please remove the lies about me from your web site.
EXCERPT FROM MY E-MAIL TO NIGEL
I want everyone to read this which I wrote to Nigel. I believe it will help you better understand why Elvis "retired" in 1977.
Nigel, I don't know how to address your skepticism any more whole heartedly, sincerely, honestly and truthfully than I have. I invite you to do a background check on me. If anyone were to come to my home and meet me and my husband. Then sit down and go through all 17 years of my friendship with Elvis through seeing his letters, cards, gifts, etc., they would know that I am absolutely telling the truth.
The point I want to get across to you is that Elvis/Jesse does not owe one single thing to anyone. He gave 21 years of his life to entertaining fans who only saw the image and not the man. If you look back at his life in 1977, you would see that from his personal point of view he was living through HELL. He was very sickly, the media was very critical of everything...his weight and his age, those low life Memphis Mafia jerks were there for what they could get from him, there were legal problems stemming from his partnership in the racquet ball business endeavor, the scandalous book by the jerks Red West, Sonny West, and Hebler was hitting the public, and on top of all that he was involved in the legal investigation of the extortionists concerning the plane deal...and other things in addition to all of this. He felt he was loosing his mind.
My God, Nigel...do you in your lofty appraisal of his life, think that you could stand up under those conditions and still go out there night after night and perform so magnificently as he did, when your private life was going to Hell???
The reason he does not "come out" now is because he has no need of anything which he left behind in the old life. He does not wish to draw any publicity whatsoever. Instead of him owing something to the fans and the media...THEY owe him the peace and quiet of a normal life. He was telling many around him prior to August 16, 1977 that he was "so tired of being Elvis Presley". But, evidently this fell on deaf ears....ears attached to fools who thought he had everything in the world that anyone could possibly want. When in fact everything that he truly wanted had been stolen from him.
No, he will not come out. No, he will not sit down over a beer with you or Adam Muskewitz...a man so illiterate about Elvis THE MAN that he did not even know that Elvis did not drink beer...that he would not even allow anyone to drink beer in his presence out of a can...only out of a glass.
Eliza is absolutely telling the truth. She has the DNA and only needs one other tiny piece of evidence to prove that she is Vernon's daughter and that Jesse is Elvis. I hold that one thing in my possession and will not make it available to anyone without Elvis/Jesse's explicit permission.
He bared his soul to us, his friends, and to the world when he wrote his precious book. A book which was handed to Hinton on a silver platter. A book which Hinton trashed by his cheap publishing and discredited by his lies to the public about "Elvis coming out". It was Hinton who published those lies...WITHOUT ANY WORD FROM ELVIS/JESSE THAT HE WOULD COME OUT. I tried to reason with Hinton about everything he was doing with the publishing of the book and the lies he was feeding the public. I even threatened to expose them by making Jesse's handwritten letters to me public. All to no avail.
I have letters from Elvis/Jesse during that time and he was telling me that what Hinton was doing was wrong. He was incredulous that Hinton would even think that he would do such a thing. I confronted Hinton and his side kick Linda Felix-Johnson with the fact that I had numerous letters in Elvis' own handwriting in which he condemned the things they were doing...the lies they were telling the world. The things that Hinton and Felix-Johnson were telling the world were LIES pure and simple. My God, if anyone with half of a brain reads the letters handwritten by Jesse which were published in the book, they would see that time after time Jesse said he did not want any publicity, that he now is only the brother of a famous man, that he originally intended for the book to be published only after he is actually gone from this earth. Hinton and Felix-Johnson talked him in to letting it be published before his actual demise. Jesse even told me that he was "not through...he had more he wanted to tell.".
I want to make it perfectly clear that I was there fighting against Hinton and Felix-Johnson every step of the way. I confronted them with the fact that I had (and still have) handwritten letters from Elvis/Jesse from those years that they were running all over the country spewing forth their lies. I told them that I had statements from Jesse which would blow them out of the water. I asked them what they were going to do when 2002 came and went and there was no Elvis coming out. They brushed me aside and continued their lies.
Bear in mind that I have all of those letters written by Elvis stating exactly what I have written above. This is handwriting which has been certified by a graphologist who worked for 10 years with the Missouri courts in criminal cases in which her word was accepted as final in those cases. This graphologist's report on Jesse's handwriting was accepted as final by the Attorney General of Missouri, in clearing Hinton of all the trumped up charges which were called to his attention. Jesse wrote that letter in Hinton's defense even though it was Hinton's own foolish actions which caused him to be investigated by the Attorney General's office.
All of us are so blessed that he even considered writing a book to explain to his friends, family and fans why he did what he did. He asked me if I thought people would be disappointed in him. I responded, after thinking it over, and told him that no one had any right to be disappointed in him because no one else had lived through his life. When taken as a whole, no one person could possibly bear up under the enormous demands placed upon him by people who thought he was super-human. I ask you, Nigel, (and anyone else reading this letter) if any one of you could keep your sanity when being inundated with clamoring, worshipping fans 24/7, 365 days a year for all of your adult life? Not to mention the mean spirited demanding media, the death threats, the extortion attempts, the betrayal by life long associates, betrayal by even his family, even losing the day to day living with his little girl.
Why in God's name does anyone think that he would long to return to those days?
So, that is my rebuttal to your skepticism. May you be happy always in your ignorance and enjoy the friendship of those poor souls who have swallowed your ignorant ramblings.

Paul Monroe is on the attack once more. For all who care to read his latest false rant about me, here is the link to the message board on which he currently rants and raves. I can disprove his lies about me...but why bother? My web site speaks for itself. He is a sad man with a filthy vocabulary. If he has so much material, he should pay to have his own web site as I am doing.
